FOR PEOPLE WE CALLED

Why did HotlinePing call me?

If HotlinePing called you about someone’s coding project, this page explains what that was, why it happened, and how to make it stop. It takes about a minute to read.

01Who called you

It was an automated call placed by HotlinePing on behalf of the person who registered your number, usually a software developer who wants to be reached when their coding agent needs a decision. The caller introduces itself by the caller name that person picked (Bleep, Scarlett, or General Patton) and says which project it is calling about. Calls come from a United States or a Netherlands number, depending on that person’s settings.

HotlinePing is operated by Scaleport AI Oy. We do not sell anything by phone and never make marketing calls.

02Why you were called

Their coding agent was working on something and reached a point it could not settle alone: a choice between two approaches, a blocker, an approval, or a login it must not attempt itself. Rather than guess, it asked for you. The call carries one short question and the context needed to answer it. HotlinePing has no access to that person’s code, files, or accounts.

03We never ask for secrets

HotlinePing never asks for a password, access key, one-time code, recovery code, or any other secret, and if you start to say one, the caller stops you. A call that does ask for a secret is not from us.

04What happens to what you said

What you said was turned into text so your answer could be passed back to the coding agent. That transcript is stored encrypted and can be retrieved for 30 days after the call. The audio of the call was not recorded.

05Why your number could be called

A number can only be called after the person who adds it confirms that they are allowed to have it called and that whoever answers has agreed to automated calls that are transcribed. We then text a 6-digit code to the number, and it can be called only once that code has been entered. A coding agent can never supply a number of its own. If you never agreed to this, or never received such a text, please tell us at privacy@hotlineping.com: something is wrong and we want to know.

06How to stop the calls

  • During a call, say it is the wrong number, that you would rather not help, or that you want the calls to stop. The call ends at once. There is no menu, no retry, and no pressure.
  • To stop future calls, write to privacy@hotlineping.com and tell us the number. We will remove it, and it will not be called again unless it is registered and verified with a new code. Hanging up on one call does not do this by itself.
  • To be called only at certain hours, ask the person who registered you to set quiet hours. They are checked in your own time zone, and an urgent request does not override them.

07Your data and your rights

We hold your phone number (encrypted), the name the account holder gave you, your time zone and any quiet hours, a record of when your number was verified, and call transcripts. You can ask for a copy, a correction, or deletion, and you can object or complain to your data-protection authority. The Privacy Policy has the full picture. Write to privacy@hotlineping.com for any of it.
